Each little town, no matter how prosperous or substandard has at least one local business that is so devastatingly sub par that its negative community interaction and ethics reflects poorly on the entire community. Even the most quaint of localities in the most affluent areas have businesses that are a blatant black eye on the entire business community.
I was in Doylestown, PA this past weekend and made the gargantuan mistake of taking my brand new Jaguar to get washed at Jiffy Car Wash down the street from the Bucks Count Court House and about a block away from the Wawa convenience store.
Like any busy tourist I saw the sign for full service car wash and figured, sure, why not. I figured I would be in and out in a matter of a few minutes and it would be nice to give my new car a bath to initiate our new relationship as I just bought this vehicle three weeks ago. This was a huge mistake.
Little did I k ow that Jiffy Car Wash in Doylestown is one of the most sued businesses in the entire region as they have damaged more than 800 cars in 2010 alone and as of February of 2011 they have already had 289 lawsuits filed against them for major car damages such ad ripped off rearview mirrors, shredded tires, door, fender and hood dents cracked windows and windshields, ripped leather interior and more. If this isn't enough, they apparently have quite the reputation for theft. When they vacuum your car's interior or wipe Dow the dash board Jiffy Car Wash has a seasoned reputation for stealing wallets, purses and anything that is not nailed down.
What do you think happens when you discover your wallet or purse stolen from your vehicle or a cracked window, ripped off rear view window or other massive damage or theft to your property? Of course you'll bring this to the attention of the manager or assistant manager. This is where things get interesting. Jiffy Car Wash has become the center of legions as Doylestown's cancer cluster as they've assaulted female customers, smacked teenage girls and actually slashed the tire of a 74 year old man who complained that his brand new ox of Ashton cigars was missing from the back seat.
Listen, I am not a professional writer, I am just a guy. When my car was finished I realized my tire had a hole in it from the ancient equipment at Jiffy Car Wash. I brought it to the attention of the manager he said, and I quote, "get in the car punk before I rip a hole in the side of your throat". To my absolute astonishment his employees stood laughing. I drove, rim to blacktop from Jiffy to the Liberty Gas station near CB West High School. I have never been so humiliated and angry. Of course I will sue them just as hundreds before me but I have written this blog pistons a cautionary tale for those who may make the same mistake that I did by taking their car to Jiffy Car Wash in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. I suggest that you go anywhere but here.
