The Flat and the nudist

By Bradley Smith

It seemed relentless, ths summer heat, we were not used to such temperature, not day after day, and night after night. It did not seem to be British, to be buying fans, and different things to cool us down. We were used to things, to warm us up.

My work as an interior designer, took me to some unusual locations. Most of my work did come from London the capital, and also the home counties, which is the area just outside of the capital. I was popular, and much in demand, I was well known for creating color schemes.

My social life blended with my work, as I had a great time relaxing, drinking and eating with my clients. My portfolio, was vast, I was often asked to put photos, of the designs I did, into magazines. The editors were also friends, my clients, loved seeing their home published in this way.

The art of photographs, is to leave something to the imagination. I would use objects like a pine chest of drawers, with a vase on top, to show a color of a wall off, perhaps a small wardrobe would highlight an alcove, and a pine kitchen would be complimented by a farmhouse table.

But one day I did have an unusual client to visit.

The client, was a very leggy blond lady from California. She explained to me that she was a nudist, and that she was always naked apart from when she went out of her apartment. I thought she was joking, however she was not , she was serious!

I was shocked at first to visit my new friend. She seemed, very much at ease with the situation of her being naked all the time. I did get used to it, and actually it was one of my best designs , that I ever did, it featured well in journals, and editorials, why it was so good was simple, it took me so long to do it!
