Some Of The Most Memorable Movies From The Very Talented Actor, Jim Carrey

By Michael Henry

There is little doubt that one of the most successful actors of the comedic genre in recent years has been Jim Carrey. Carrey has had a slew of successful funny films, and has developed somewhat of a cult following in the process. Many people have not received Carrey's transition into more serious films so well, but I think he is a great actor and is not limited to a specific genre.

Let's take a look at some of Jim Carrey's greatest movies in recent memory.

Let's start out with the silliest film of his of all. I am of course talking about Dumb and Dumber, which is a slapstick comedy on a level that audiences had never seen before. Harry and Lloyd, the two stars of this film (played by Carrey and Jeff Daniels), redefine idiots.

Another movie that I will obviously include on this list is Ace Ventura. I prefer the original (Pet Detective) as opposed to the sequel (Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls), but you can make arguments for either film. I am also a Miami Dolphins fan, so I might be just a little biased.

Another movie that I definitely have to include on this list is Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. This is one of my top twenty favorite movies of all time, let alone one starring Carrey. This film is directed by Michel Gondry and also stars Kate Winslet. If you are looking to see one of best films of the romance genre the past few years, then this is it. It is amazing and yet, not cheesy at all.

Me, Myself and Irene was just an impressive role for Jim Carrey. He managed to pull off two completely different personalities in this film while having both characters be hilarious in their own way. This movie also stars Rene Zelwegger. The scene with the cow in the middle of the road is tough to watch, but really funny.

Another movie that certainly makes the cut for me is The Truman Show. This movie was truly before it's time; it came out before the reality television craze hit, and had it come out now, it probably wouldn't be as great because of the timing. This is just a great film.

I don't know what the future holds for Jim Carrey. Will he revert to comedies, continue to pursue more serious content matter, or will he stick to children's films as he has done in recent years? The one thing we can be sure of, is audiences will go see his movies regardless of the genre.
