Are Your Funny T-Shirts Not Making As Big Of An Impact As You Thought?

By Yancy Cannon

Ever since you were just a youngster, comedy has been easy for you. You're not sure what it is, but it seems the right thing pops into your head at the perfect time to make the people are you smile, chuckle, or outright guffaw. As such, you've never really felt the need to rely on outside sources for comedy. Now you've discovered funny t-shirts and you think they may be just the thing to take your social comedy up a few notches. You've found some shirts that you think are downright hilarious, and the day has come for you to wear them out with your friends.

Tonight is the night that you plan on getting some serious laughs. You have found one of the greatest funny t-shirts you have ever seen, bought it, and are currently wearing it across your chest like some sort of breastplate made of cotton and laughter. You are going to make your friends double over with laughter and strangers buy you booze...and let's not forget about how the girls are going to swarm all over you. What's a more perfect ice breaker than funny t-shirts?

You walk into the bar, and you might even be showing a bit of a swagger to your steps. There is chatter and music all around you as you make your way through the crowd to the cluster of your friends next to the bar. One of your besties has already seen your approach and is waiting for you with a grin and a beverage. Smiles, salutations, and an opening salvo of conversation gets you situated within the group and everyone is happy to see you...but no one has said anything about your shirt, which is the best one out of all of your new funny t-shirts.

As the night drags onward, you can't help but think about the lack of comments you've gotten. You have the best sense of humor in the whole room, so if anyone is going to be able to pick out the best funny t-shirts, it's going to be you...right? What if you don't have the best sense of humor, though? What if you're not just being drunk and paranoid, and people are laughing at your weak attempts at bar room comedy behind your back?

If your funny t-shirts are a big, wet flop you shouldn't fret about it too much. These things happen from time to time, and it isn't your fault. Humor is subjective and it relies heavily on the interaction of two human beings to make it work sometimes. There are many instances when you have to lead a person to a punch-line and a t-shirt just can't do that. If you buy a funny t-shirt and no one is laughing at it, at least you bought a shirt that you like. Sometimes that's all you can hope for.
