'Case 39' Movie Review

By Shun Smith

Paramount recently released a new mystery/thriller movie entitled "Case 39″ into theaters a couple of months ago. I checked it out last night, and was quite impressed with it. I thought It delivered some really great twists, along with good, suspenseful scenes. The film stars: Rene Zellweger, Jodelle Ferland, Ian McShane, Bradley Cooper, Kerry O'Malley, Callum Keith Rennie, Adrian Lester, Georgia Craig, and Cynthia Stevenson.

The Case 39 flick revolved around characters Emily and Lilith. Emily is a social worker who takes Lilith's case because she wants to check up on how she's doing with her parents. When Emily visits Lilith's house, her parents appear to be very strange and that sets off red flags with Emily. In light of that, she keeps a closer eye on Lilith, and eventually rescues her from being killed by her parents.

Later on in the movie, Emily finds out that the parents had real great reasons for trying to kill Lilith in a baking oven because it's revealed that she's actually a demon monster that causes people's worst fears to become real, and brings death to all the people she decides to attack with her power.

"Case 39" featured intense,"edge of your seat" scenes that included Lilith getting stuffed in an extremely hot oven,a dude getting swamped and attacked by hornets that came out of his ears and nose,Lilith showing her bad demonic creature side, and more. It was very surprising to see the sweet little girl turn into a giant monster. The film closed out with a big thrilling scene as Emily tried to kill Lilith just like the people who she rescued her from.

Most of the top movie critics didn't really give this flick good reviews from what I read. However, I thought the flick was great and intriguing. It had me pondering who or what this this little girl is,and what she was trying to accomplish. It delivered the proper mix of horror, chilling suspense, mystery, and surprises.

I think little Jodelle Ferland did a great job playing the demon child .She also acted in the popular "Twilight Saga: Eclipse" flick. She's the cutest little girl when she's not turning into a monster of course. I gave this movie an A rating.
