Music videos are very popular on Youtube. There are AMVs. Which are animated music videos that get millions of views and funny songs are doing well too.
The great thing about this is that music videos are easy to make. You can make your own music videos in a variety of ways or you can use other peoples music to and edit in your own video. Or you can make a parody of any popular song.
However for those of us who aren't afraid of public humiliation and who suck at singing/playing a musical instrument then this is the genre for you. All you need to do is lip sync in a funny way. The main problem is the competition but of course there will be competition if it wasn't popular then there wouldn't be any competition. You will probably want to lip sync a funny song. If you don;t have any ideas then I have created a list of songs that I think you could lip sync to.
Kill a Kitten by Stephen Lynch. Hilarious but sick. Be careful.
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap by AC/DC
The song Barbie Girl could have a hilarious video either alluring or done with dolls.
J**z In My Pants by The Lonely Island is so funny. A copy of this one would probably go good if you were creative with it. Not TOO creative. :-)
We Swear We're Not Gay by Unknown is a great example.
An AMV with I'm an Asshole by Dennis Larry for a popular animated show like Code Geas would probably do well.
I could go on like this all day. There are millions of examples you could use but this gives you the idea. Try not to brainstorm too much. Just find the 1 that you really like and do it.
You can do screen captures with Jing to make any kind of music video you want. If just flat images to illustrate your song they will need to flash pretty quickly to keep it interesting. Just don't make them so fast you can't see them.
