The Problem With Using Humor In A Speech

By Angela Gymmy

You are a great speaker. It's just that if you use humor incorrectly, that might screw everything up. We've all been told that humor is a powerful tool that can make a speech that much more enjoyable for our audiences. That makes us all want to use humor and to use it more. However, if you screw it up, you'll have to stand around and watch your next speech go up in flames.

Why Humor Does Not Always Work Out For A Speaker Why can't we all be stand-up comedians? Actually, the reason that we can't is because as speakers we have a different goal than a standup comedian does: they just want to entertain their audience, we want to communicate information and motivate our audience to take action. The biggest problem that I see speakers having with humor is when they simply try too hard. This unfortunately becomes obvious all too early on in a speech. What we see happening is when a speaker tries to tell a joke or use humor that they've seen somebody else use and for some reason it just doesn't work - it's not funny and the audience doesn't laugh.

If you are a woman on a first date, it can ease a bit of tension and nervousness if you expose your sense of humor. However, make sure you are showing off your sense of humor with out degrading or making fun of the person you are with.

WHOA began investigating all politically incorrect comedians. WHOA learned comedians really "took off" being politically incorrect as a result of hearing about a certain teacher who was about to be fired because she had used Facebook to state an OPINION!. It became clear to these comedians when anyone could be demonized for their opinion, then there was little, if anything to lose, so the comedians started doing politically incorrect comedy.

Due to this politically incorrect comedy, it became clear to the WORLD HUMOR OPINION ADMINISTRATION that just squelching opinions was insufficient, because opinions, if they were allowed to emerge, might be a source for HUMOR. For, it was discovered, that just with an opinion, anyone's opinion, a comedian could turn the opinion around, therefore UPSETTING THE ENTIRE WORLD! So naturally, to save the world from this new CURSE, namely politically incorrect comedy, all opinions AND all comedy had to be squelched, and the HUMOR OPINION POLICE, under the direction of the 2012 WORLD HUMOR OPINION ADMINISTRATION, had to shut down ALL comedy and all opinion EVERYWHERE.

Just before midnight on December 31, 2011, suspecting what might occur coinciding with the APOCAPLYTIC Mayan 2012 date, alternative comics and the few who still had their opinions instead of their opinions having them, and those few who still had their sense of humor intact were gathered by the ghost of Groucho Marx. They were somewhere in Alabama, near (where the) Tusksaloosa; they huddled deciding their strategy to re-introduce comedy and opinion back to the world.

So, it can be quite beneficial to allow your humor to come through as soon as the first date! Let your humor and smile shine, and your partner may just warm up to you quicker than you thought! Don't be afraid to have some great humor, and have some fun!
