In 2011 we have seen many funny and weird new stories over a large variety of topics. At the Mexico-US border, smugglers built their very own medieval catapult to launch some drugs over the border into the United States. Time Warner decided to bill one of their customers a little more than usual, 16 million dollars more. In California, birds collapsed a roof of a gas station with their dropping and elsewhere, an Amish teenager decided he would lead police on a car chase, while he was in horse and buggy.
In January, US border agents tipped off the Mexican military to a potential drug smuggling operation. This operation was found to be a little different once the military turned up, with seizure of 45 pounds of marijuana taking place, as well as a metal-framed catapult. The smugglers were attempting to re-enact castle sieges from the medieval days by launching the drugs over the border to collection agents on the other side.
The iPhone game proved it, there is a lot of Angry birds in the world, and a large majority of them appear to live in Vacaville, California. In January the local Vacaville fire department was called to a gas station that had its roof collapse. After inspection of the building for any structural weakness, the cause of the collapse was found to be the inches of bird droppings that had been left in the roofs structure, not any building fault.
Amish teenagers are not always thought of as the most reckless group of teenagers, but an Amish teenager in Cattaraugus County, N.Y. lead police on a car chase while he was drunk. Lewis D. Hostetler was spotted by police at 1am drinking beer in his buggy (with horse). He ran, the cops gave chase and he was charged with resisting arrest as well as unlawful possession of an alcoholic beverage with intent to consume. Luckily for Lewis, he was allowed to keep his buggy license and could be back on the road very soon.
Beavercreek Ohio resident Daniel DeVirgilio was a little shocked at the increase in his normal monthly cable bill earlier this year. After opening the bill up, what he expected to be his normal monthly amount of $80, turned out to be in excess for $16million. Time Warner apologised for the error, sighting the incorrect figures having been input by an employee as the cause for the billing issue.
Stupid and funny news stories happen every day in our world and there are just too many to list. Funny news stories may happen in your area and you can submit those to news sites in order to get them out there for everyone to have a laugh or two about, now, and in the future.
