Sony is the first of the major players to have released a dedicated reader for ebook that had the Digital E-Ink technology that is now ubiquitous. At present, Sony has launched the Sony Ereader650, which is the third generation of their sought after ebook reader.

The box in which the Sony Ereader650 is packaged, contains a USB cable that is small and enables the user to hook up the ereader to the computer in order to download files and charge the device. In addition, there is a Quick start manual and of course, the Sony Ereader650 itself. The design of the reader is simplistic and sleek. At the top of the device is the power slide, 2 slots for memory cards as well as a stylus. At the bottom of the reader is a USB slot, volume controls, headphone jack and the reset button.

The Sony Ereader650 is incredibly easy to make use of; the device is equipped with a touch screen that is user-friendly and very simple to operate. When the Sony Ereader650 first starts up, the user can quickly make the selection of the very last book that was read as well as the page where you were when you stopped reading is automatically saved by the device. The dictionary at the base of the screen can be accessed by way of double tapping on the screen. From there, you can opt to find the definition of a word or translate a word from English into Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, German or French. You also have the option of translating into English from the languages which were previously highlighted. You will be able to easily and quickly swap between dictionaries. The Sony Ereader650 enables you to add notes to the books you are reading with text or freehand; in addition, you can highlight sentences or words simply by dragging across them.

The dictionary of the Sony Ereader650 can be accessed simply by double tapping on the screen; doing so will cause the dictionary to appear on the screen at the bottom. The dictionary allows you to easily find the definition of words and in addition, you will be able translate your book from English into German, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish or Portuguese. The dictionary can also translate all of those languages into English as well.
