The Funniest Facebook Fails

By Cyril Patricks

It is fair to say that some people really should not be allowed to use social network sites. After all, it's embarrassing enough when you make a mistake without every one of your family friends seeing it too! So from minor personal mishaps to larger corporate misjudgements, here are a few examples of Facebook fails.

What your friends should never read

We've all been there. Whether a little bit tipsy or just plain stupid, we've all updated our status with something we will most likely regret later. From accidentally announcing the time of a secret surprise party to sharing with everyone some rather personal and explicit details, we thank goodness sometimes that there's a 'Delete' button.

Things your parents should never read

There are some things our parents should never find out about us, let alone read on Facebook. So for a moment, really feel for those sons and daughters who after updating their status with some rather graphic details of their latest 'conquest' have soon after remembered their mum or dad is also their Facebook Friend.

Things your boss should never read

We may be more clued in on how Facebook works now, but at the start this was certainly not the case. Everyone remembers the girl who updated her status about her 'pervy boss' and the 'rubbish work she had to do' (of course stronger language was used) only to be publicly told by her boss (who she forgot could read her statuses) that a) he was gay and certainly wouldn't be interested and b) her p45 was in the post. What a fail.

Things your consumers should never read

You wouldn't think with their big-bucks that an International brand like Dr Pepper could pull off an epic Facebook fail. Well they can. Bringing a whole new meaning to 'What's the worst that can happen?', in 2010 Dr Pepper seriously messed up their new online campaign (which was encouraging their fans to send in their most embarrassing updates) by posting on Facebook an example which referred to a pornographic film. Needless to say, the campaign was promptly abandoned.
