After considering the many new features coming to iKwote, the newest of the features is videos. These videos are straight from the most popular video website on the web, Youtube.
Programming iKwote has always been a challenge that I enjoy. But when it came to integrating a Youtube interface into the iKwote website, the challenge became more of a distraction than ever before. If it wasn't hard enough finding the bugs in the website, I had to battle with myself. I would fix a small problem I was having with the website and then I would notice an interesting video. After watching that informative video I would find myself watching numerous other videos, one after the other. It wasn't long before it became dark outside and I had wasted a good 2 or 3 hours watching videos instead of making the Youtube interface WORK. It was a challenge indeed, but I have finally managed to pull through with some interesting results.
The Youtube Interface was designed on iKwote to basically give the user, YOU, more options than just looking at quotes all day and although the Interface is very user friendly, it can definitely get better. So far, using the Youtube interface, you are able to browse a list of today's "Top Rated Videos", today's "Most Viewed Videos" and every "Recently Featured Video" featured on Youtube. Not only that but you can also use the search feature to search videos just as you would on the Youtube website.
Amazing isn't it? Well, for a website that has nothing to do with Youtube, I thought it was. But it is definitely far from finished. The Interface, in my opinion, doesn't give you enough choice for videos. So in the near future, I will add the choice of watching the most popular videos of the most popular categories on Youtube. Just got to do a few bug fixes and a little more of a user friendly interface and I think it should be pretty good :)
I have also noticed that while watching Youtube videos on the iKwote website, I have not yet watched one interrupting video ad. Bit of an unexpected bonus I guess. Who wants to watch interrupting ads anyway. The Youtube Interface on iKwote does not have ANY video ads which disturb you from watching what you want to watch, when you want to watch it! No Youtube video ads... Smiley face for that I think :D So check out the Youtube Interface to find out what all the fuss is about.
