Baseball Movies From The Last Thirty Years That Are Unforgettable

By James Charles

Over the years, there have been some brilliant films about Baseball. Whether they are comedies, dramas, or films involving the subject of romance, there are baseball films that have embedded themselves into the movie hall of fame (if such a thing existed).

In my opinion, the following films are some of the best baseball movies to ever be released.

Angels In The Outfield is a baseball film that is fun for the whole family. Starring the great Joseph Gordon Levitt in one of his first roles, this Disney movie provides laughs as well as tears. Well, maybe not tears, but you may find yourself getting choked up at certain points.

While the original Major League film set the precedent, Major League 3 remains my favorite in this series of baseball movies. This is one of Charlie Sheen's best roles and any time this movie is on, I feel the need to watch it in its entirety.

Walter Mathau stars in the original Bad News Bears, which was recently remade with Billy Bob Thornton reprising the role of Mr Buttermaker, an alcoholic coach who takes on an unenthusiastic group of little league baseball players.

Field of Dreams remains one of Kevin Costner's greatest films to this day. True, he hasn't done much recently, but even if he did my statement would hold true! This movie encapsulates the spirit of American baseball and puts it into film.

Kevin Costner, Tim Robbins and Susan Surandon starred in 1988's Bull Durham, which gives us an honest look at the sport of baseball both on the field and behind the scenes. If you are a fan of baseball, movies or both, this film is a must see.

As it stands, this is my list. Baseball films are released so often, however, that I may have to revise the list in a few years!
