By Eliza R. Brocks

Veliki Brat is the Serbian version of the Big Brother reality show, which was initially showed in 2006 by the local TV Pink and B92 network where all competitors were solely from Serbia. Since then the show remarked significant success and the broadcasting broadened over the Serbian state lines into the neighboring countries and today Veliki Brat has participants from these countries as well.

Sixteen challengers partake in Veliki Brat 2011 joining people from fifty-five to twenty-two, which definitely proves that the show is accepted and favored from all people despite their age, gender or nationality. The game is easy, ruled by simple rules, where all the rivals perform miscellaneous tasks and judging on their results every week one person goes home.

The rules of Veliki Brat 2011 are simple, the postulants are not allowed to have any communication with the outer world, their families, friends, and they cannot use mobiles, internet or watch TV. The plot of the show is rotating around the relationship between the rivals, filming everything on audio and video equipment, placed around the house to catch every single moment and the most exposed situations. The players stay together in the house for a long time, so these piquant situations inevitably happen among them, largely contributing for the big name and success of this show.

Before the start of the show, a trailer was aired where some of the past participants and Boki 13, popular Macedonian singer from the celebrity edition were students in Veliki Brat - Skola za poznate (Big Brother's School of Fame) wearing uniforms and the hosts were their teachers. Although the producers named the reality show "Ljubi bliznjeg svoga" (Love your Neighbor), the media already started began using the name "School of Fame".

Couple of weeks before to the beginning of the show a second trailer was aired, showing descending flowers and writing out the slogan "Ljubi bliznjeg svoga" (Love your Neighbor). Many tattler talks were going around foreseeing the hosts of Veliki Brat 2011 and many big shots were tagged for this function but at the end Antonija Blace and Marijana Micic were the chosen ones.

After the first broadcasting of the newest season, Veliki Brat 2011 was criticized for presenting offensive and improper content and for the first time the show was rated as 18+ programs. The paramount thing in Veliki Brat 2011 is the reward, which was raised to 150.000 Euros but the winner does not take all the money because with every error they lose couple of thousands.
