How To Play The Aggravation Board Game

By Chloe Gib

The aggravation board game is a game which aims to have all playing pieces reach the home section of the board. Aggravating which is the act of capturing another player's piece by taking its space on the board is where the name came from. Colored marbles are used to play.

The player who has the highest count when throwing the dice can play first. The player to the left of him will follow and so on. Each one will choose a color and place their pieces on their bases.

A player has to roll a one or a six so a marble can be in play. What you get from the dice will determine the spaces you can move once the marble is in play. If a one or a six is obtained during the game then the player can either move a marble already in play, or begin with another marble.

During the game, you can jump over other player's pieces if they are in your path. You are not allowed to jump over your own pieces or land on one of your own. If all your pieces are blocked, then wait your turn.

It is also possible that you will land on a position that is already occupied by one of your opponents. This means that you can aggravate his piece so that it will have to return to the base section and begin the play all over again. All pieces can be aggravated except those that are in the home area.

Short cuts can give you an opportunity to land on the home section faster. You can get in these shortcuts by rolling the exact number. Once you are in, you can use all the star spots for movement. You will only get out by rolling the exact number as well.

Utilizing the super short cut can also lead to a victory. This is because if you land on this space, you can use all the star spots to get you anywhere you want. You need to get one on your dice so you can exit out of this system. A player should be careful in these shortcuts since pieces can still be aggravated here.

Once a player succeeds in getting all his pieces home, he wins. Since the aggravation board game can accommodate several players, this is great for families and friends. Pegs and jokers offer a similar challenge by utilizing a deck of cards. The Michigan rummy game is also another option where players sequence their cards until no card is left.
